22-23 November 2025, Freeing the chest for greater connection and inner balance. Feldenkrais workshop, Prague

“Here in my chest a star rose so brightly that it drew all the stars to itself.” – Rumi

The weekend seminar of the Feldenkrais method opens the topic of the movement possibilities of the ribs and thoracic spine . It brings not only the release of tension in the rib cage , but also the spread of better coordination into the movement of the whole body. Exercises dedicated to restoring mobility in the delicate joints of the rib cage allow for changes in its shape so that movement impulses from the head to the lower part of the body and vice versa can pass through the chest.

Thanks to the chest, you will discover a new perspective on the back and midline. We can often feel tension in the back, neck, shoulders, but we rarely realize how much the front and sides of the chest contribute to this discomfort. In observing, perceiving and articulating the entire volume of this structure, there is a huge potential for relief and overall better mobility . A free chest is essential for balancing an upright posture and is also the center of coordination of arm and leg movement. The chest and ribs play an important role in shaping the breath and protecting the heart , both physically and metaphorically.

A transparent chest allows us to better perceive the qualities of the heart and perceive how it enriches our overall movement. The connection of movements and feelings then allows us to better bring ourselves into the movement and enjoy ourselves in it. No matter how you perceive the quality of your ribcage , it can always be even more flexible and adaptable . And this always opens up new potential for feeling differently and moving your whole self differently .

About the method

The Feldenkrais Method is a new approach to self-understanding, based on a thorough study of how we initiate and carry out our actions. It is recognized worldwide for its remarkable ability to improve posture, flexibility and coordination. It teaches us how to move with less effort and more harmony. It uses organic learning, where we observe and explore how the individual parts of our body participate in movement and how they are organized together. We free ourselves from habitual patterns and movement stereotypes, allowing new patterns to emerge and develop naturally.

The founder of the method, Moshe Feldenkrais, noticed that in all our actions we unconsciously work against each other in a certain way. We have a number of movement habits that make movement ineffective, cause us pain or a feeling of certain stiffness or limitation. The effectiveness of the method lies in the ability to make the processes of the nervous system change and improve their functioning. At the same time, to become aware of our inconspicuous habits and, through movement and feeling, to discover a new range of possibilities that we have. We get a feeling of lightness, efficiency and grace in movement, and also a feeling of freedom and creativity comes.

The effectiveness of the Feldenkrais Method and its great success are used worldwide in the field of art (professional dancers, musicians and actors), in top sports and, last but not least, in cases of treatment of various types of movement restrictions, chronic tensions and pains, and developmental disorders.
